Recorded as Kei van, Vans with seating for 4, model year 1997. Carrying 350kg on a 820kg kerb weight is the kind of ratio that only comes from designing the whole vehicle around the load.

Background: the Acty Van

Registered for 4, the Acty cab is a genuinely narrow place — the width went into the load bed rather than into shoulder room. Cab-over packaging puts the driver ahead of the front axle, which is how Honda got a working bed onto a vehicle only 330cm long overall. The HH3 code marks this 1997 Acty Van as a second-generation Acty, the run Honda built from 1990 to 1999.

How this 1997 Acty Van is put together

Power comes from the E07A, a 660cc unit. Honda mounted the E07A amidships under the load bed rather than up front, which keeps the cab floor flat and the weight between the axles. Drive reaches the road through a 5-speed manual gearbox, two-wheel drive.

Living with an Acty Van

Recorded as a 4-seater, so it carries people as well as cargo. Built in 1997, this Acty Van is 29 years old and clears the 25-year threshold at which imported vehicles are exempt from US federal motor vehicle safety standards conformity. Price on this one is $5,690.
