The Suzuki Every, in detail
Where the name came from
Until December 1982 the van was simply the Carry Van. Suzuki then separated it under the Every name, and since 1999 has used Every for the commercial version and Every Wagon for the passenger one. The mechanical package stayed shared with the Carry truck: engine under the seats, rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
Generations and engines
The third generation (DE51V and DF51V, 1991–1998) ran the 657 cc F6A, with a turbocharged option. The fourth (DA52, DB52 and DA62, 1999–2005) continued with the F6A and turbo, and added a 993 cc G10B in the enlarged Every Landy. The fifth (DA64, 2005–2015) moved to the K6A, and the sixth (DA17, from 2015) to the R06A. Joypop, which appears in some listing titles, was an audio-equipped grade introduced in 1989.
And it wears other badges
Mazda's Autozam Scrum, Nissan's NV100 Clipper, Mitsubishi's Minicab van and Town Box and the Daewoo Damas have all been rebadged Everys at various points. If you find yourself hunting parts, the Suzuki catalogue is where to start regardless of the badge on the tailgate.
What is in stock, and what to check
10 Every, 1991–2001, $4,750–$6,836: 3 recorded four-wheel drive, 6 manual, 4 automatic. This is a small, fast-moving nameplate for us — expect a handful at a time rather than a wall of them.
Work both sliding doors through their full travel, lift the rear mat and look at the floor and seat pans, and confirm whether the rear seats are present and fold, since cargo-spec vans often came without a usable bench. On turbocharged cars, add the turbo and its cooling to the list. Rules for putting an import on the road are not uniform across the country. Confirm what applies to you first, and ask us if it is unclear.
