Light commercial trucks, one class up
What separates these from a kei truck
These are the cab-over trucks Japanese trades actually use when a kei truck is too small: Isuzu Elf, Toyota Dyna, Nissan Atlas and Vanette, Mazda Bongo, Mitsubishi Canter. They are outside the kei class entirely, which means a wider track, a longer bed and a real engine — the listings here record 1.5 to 2.0-litre petrol units (Nissan NA16 and NA20, Mazda F8 and FE, Isuzu KA20, Toyota 1RZ) and a Mitsubishi 4M40 four-cylinder diesel.
Who buys one
People who tried to make a kei truck do a job it was not sized for. A one-tonne cab-over will take a pallet, a dually rear axle spreads the load, and the bed is long enough for materials rather than just tools. You give up the thing that makes a kei truck charming — it will not thread down a row of trees or ride in the back of a toy hauler — and you gain a truck that will carry what you tell it to.
The current handful
There are 9 in stock, 9 of them manual. This is a small, slow-moving part of the catalog: these arrive in ones and twos rather than in container batches, so if one suits the job it is worth moving on.
Before you buy
On a working truck, brakes and springs tell you more than paint. Look at the rear spring packs and shackles, the condition of the bed or box and its mounts, and, on the duallies, whether the inner tyres have been ignored. On the diesel, ask about cold starting and glow plugs. Weight class changes what plates and endorsements you may need, and those rules are not uniform across the country — ask us and we will talk through the specific truck. Read how importing and shipping works for the import side.
