Suzuki has supplied the Carry to other manufacturers to badge as their own — Mazda since 1989, later Nissan and Mitsubishi — so the same underlying truck circulates under several names, which is another reason the parts supply runs deep. Japanese buyers bought Carrys by the hundred thousand for farms, markets and building sites, so a 1999 example is the product of decades of unglamorous refinement. Suzuki has built the Carry since 1961 — eleven generations, and the oldest nameplate the company still sells. It was Japan's best-selling truck nameplate for thirty-nine consecutive years from 1971, passing four million units by 2010.
