Background: the Carry 4WD

Suzuki has built the Carry since 1961 — eleven generations, and the oldest nameplate the company still sells. It was Japan's best-selling truck nameplate for thirty-nine consecutive years from 1971, passing four million units by 2010. Suzuki was candid about who the Carry was for: individual shopkeepers, small workshops, and agriculture, forestry and fisheries. It has sold a dedicated farm grade with a differential lock continuously. The DD51T code identifies this 1998 Carry 4WD as a ninth-generation Carry, built from 1991 to 1999.
