The mechanical side of this Carry

Under it is the F6A, a 660cc 3-cylinder single-cam engine. Suzuki built the F6A in carburetted, injected and turbocharged forms and in both six-valve and twelve-valve single-cam heads, and that breadth is part of why it survived so long. This Carry is fitted with a manual gearbox. Suzuki's F6A is one of the most widely produced kei engines ever made, which is exactly why parts and know-how for it are easy to come by.

About the 1998 Suzuki Carry

Carrys were mostly ordered in plain white for trade use; this one is Blue. Suzuki was candid about who the Carry was for: individual shopkeepers, small workshops, and agriculture, forestry and fisheries. It has sold a dedicated farm grade with a differential lock continuously. Japanese buyers bought Carrys by the hundred thousand for farms, markets and building sites, so a 1998 example is the product of decades of unglamorous refinement. The F6A fitted here is one of Suzuki's own kei engines, a design the company used across a very large number of vehicles.
