About the 1995 Mazda Scrum

The Scrum is Mazda's badge on a Suzuki-built kei vehicle and has been since 1989; Mazda sourced rather than developed its kei commercials. Sharing its engineering with Suzuki's own kei range means the Scrum draws on the same very deep parts supply.

Mechanical specification of this Scrum

Power comes from the F6A, a 660cc 3-cylinder single-cam unit. The F6A ran for years across Suzuki's entire small-vehicle range, so it is about as well-understood as a Japanese engine gets. This Scrum is fitted with a manual gearbox. The F6A sits under the seats rather than ahead of the driver, so servicing starts by tipping the bench forward.

Owning a Scrum

A 660cc engine will not tow across a state, but it will do yard, field and site work all day on very little fuel. Japanese makers also held to a voluntary 64PS ceiling for the class. What you see is what we have: a White Scrum on our lot, not a listing for a vehicle still in an auction hall. It is listed at $5,354. Mazda had the same 660cc ceiling to work with as every other maker, so the differences between kei trucks come from packaging and engineering rather than from displacement.
