1993 Honda Acty Van#BUC92601

A 1993 Honda Acty Van in our current inventory, finished in White, brought in out of the Japanese domestic market.

1993 Honda Acty Van: the background

The Acty's defining trick is where the engine lives: mounted transversely amidships under the load bed rather than under the cab. It looks like a cab-over, but structurally it is a mid-engined vehicle. Cab-over packaging puts the driver ahead of the front axle, which is how Honda got a working bed onto a vehicle only 330cm long overall. Honda aimed the Acty at agriculture and forestry — its "Attack" grade was explicitly a farming model, with creeper gears and a rear differential lock as standard.

Under it is the E07A, a 660cc engine. Honda mounted the E07A amidships under the load bed rather than up front, which keeps the cab floor flat and the weight between the axles. Behind the White bodywork sits an automatic gearbox.

Where an Acty Van earns its keep

Square sides on a 330cm × 140cm footprint make the load area far more usable per cubic metre than the outside size suggests. Built in 1993, this Acty Van is 33 years old and clears the 25-year threshold at which imported vehicles are exempt from US federal motor vehicle safety standards conformity. It is listed at $4,490.
