Suzuki has built the Carry since 1961 — eleven generations, and the oldest nameplate the company still sells. It was Japan's best-selling truck nameplate for thirty-nine consecutive years from 1971, passing four million units by 2010. The Carry uses the classic kei arrangement — cab-over body, engine mounted longitudinally under the driver's seat, drive to the rear — which keeps everything short-coupled and within reach. Suzuki was candid about who the Carry was for: individual shopkeepers, small workshops, and agriculture, forestry and fisheries. It has sold a dedicated farm grade with a differential lock continuously.
