About This Vehicle
Currently available: a 2000 Subaru Sambar EFI Super Charged AWD, finished in White, imported by us from Japan.
The 2000 Sambar in context
Enthusiasts nicknamed the rear-engined Sambar the "agricultural Porsche", and the joke does real work: rear engine, rear drive, four cylinders, independent suspension all round. Putting the engine behind the rear axle loads the driven wheels, and that is a large part of why Sambars have the traction reputation they do. The Sambar is the odd one out in the class and deliberately so: Subaru put the engine right at the back, behind the rear axle, and drove the rear wheels from there.
2000 Subaru Sambar EFI Super Charged AWD: engine, gearbox and running gear
Under it is the EN07C, a fuel-injected 660cc 4-cylinder engine. Subaru mounted the EN07 transversely under the floor at the very back, reached through a hatch in the bed and a cover in the rear bumper rather than from inside the cab. Behind the White bodywork sits an automatic gearbox.
Recorded condition of this 2000 Sambar EFI Super Charged AWD
The odometer reads 33,056. That reading of 33,056 came to us without a unit attached, and we have left it exactly as found. On the specification sheet: an airbag, ABS, power steering and air conditioning.
Where a Sambar EFI Super Charged AWD earns its keep
Farms, vineyards, ranches, grounds crews and building sites are where Sambar EFI Super Charged AWDs end up in the US, for the same reasons they ended up there in Japan — Japanese sources describe the kei truck as a necessity for moving tools, crops and catch. It is on our books as 452-2, and what this listing records is what we hold on file for it. The asking price is $19,995.
