What a Minicab Truck is

The later Minicab looks semi-cab-over because Mitsubishi pushed the front axle forward for a crush zone, but the engine still sits under the driver's seat, so structurally it remained a cab-over. Minicabs sold into Japanese agriculture and light construction, and the factory list reflects it: a dedicated "Minori" farm specification, low-range transfer options and heavy-duty dump beds. Mitsubishi launched the Minicab in 1966 and kept it in the range for decades, making it one of the older continuously-built kei trucks.

Powertrain on this Minicab Truck

The engine is recorded as the 3G83. By 1995 the 3G83 had been in Mitsubishi's kei range long enough that its weak points and its strong ones were both thoroughly known. The 1995 Minicab Truck came with a 5-speed gearbox, and that is what this one has.

Import and ownership — 1995 Mitsubishi Minicab Truck

A 1995 Minicab Truck is old enough to be simple and new enough to be usable, which is most of why this generation gets exported rather than scrapped.
