1998 Mitsubishi Minicab: engine, gearbox and running gear

The engine is recorded as the 3G83. The 3G83 carries a balancer shaft, which is unusual for a kei three-cylinder and is why it is smoother than its cylinder count suggests. Mitsubishi launched the Minicab in 1966 and kept it in the range for decades, making it one of the older continuously-built kei trucks. Mitsubishi supplied the Minicab to Nissan to sell as the Clipper from 2003, so the same truck ran in Japan under two badges. By 1998 the Minicab had been in production for thirty years, and the design had long since stopped needing to prove itself.
