About This Vehicle

We have this 2000 Subaru Sambar Truck on the lot, finished in White, imported direct from Japan.

Background: the Sambar Truck

When production ended, the supercharged EN07 was the only supercharged engine left in any Japanese car, kei or otherwise — the Sambar was the last kei truck you could order with forced induction. Subaru's Sambar was the first ordinary kei truck and cab-van offered with four-wheel drive, from 1980. Subaru gave the Sambar four-wheel independent suspension from the very first 1961 model, at a time when Japanese passenger cars mostly did without it — struts at the front, semi-trailing arms at the rear.

2000 Subaru Sambar Truck: engine, gearbox and running gear

Under it is the EN07, a 660cc engine. The EN07 is a genuine four-cylinder in a kei-sized package. Subaru kept building it long after almost everyone else had settled on three cylinders, and it is the single biggest reason Sambars have their own following. Behind the White bodywork sits a 5-speed manual gearbox with an extra-low crawler gear.

Sambar Truck: size and capacity

It is listed at 340cm in length, 148cm in width and 178cm in height. The documents give a kerb weight of 770kg, a rated load capacity of 350kg and 8.95m³ of measured cargo volume. Registration on this Sambar Truck records 2 seats and a body type of Kei truck, Trucks.

Recorded condition of this 2000 Sambar Truck

A 2000 vehicle showing 77800 km, recorded with a condition of used. On the specification sheet: Electronic fuel injection.

Where a Sambar Truck earns its keep

The bed sits low — you are lifting into it, not over your head — which matters more after the tenth load than it does on the first. Built in 2000, this Sambar Truck is 26 years old and clears the 25-year threshold at which imported vehicles are exempt from US federal motor vehicle safety standards conformity.
