Under the skin of a 1993 Sambar Dias Classic 4WD

The engine is recorded as the EN07C — 660cc 4-cylinder. Subaru was the last maker to keep a four-cylinder in the kei class, and the EN07 is that engine — four small cylinders instead of three larger ones, which is why a Sambar is so much less busy than a three-cylinder rival. This Sambar Dias Classic 4WD is fitted with a manual gearbox. The trim designation records selectable 2WD / 4WD high.

Background: the Sambar Dias Classic 4WD

The name comes from the sambar deer, in keeping with the rest of Subaru's naming of that era. The KV4 designation places this 1993 Sambar Dias Classic 4WD in the fifth-generation Sambar, built between 1990 and 1999. Putting the engine behind the rear axle loads the driven wheels, and that is a large part of why Sambars have the traction reputation they do.

Practicalities of this Sambar Dias Classic 4WD

Sambar Dias Classic 4WDs were bought in Japan for delivery rounds, trade work and mobile services, and the body reflects exactly that brief. What you see is what we have: a Green/Ivory Sambar Dias Classic 4WD on our lot, not a listing for a vehicle still in an auction hall. Price on this one is $18,295.
