The engine is recorded as the F6A. The F6A ran for years across Suzuki's entire small-vehicle range, so it is about as well-understood as a Japanese engine gets. This Carry Dump is fitted with a 4-speed gearbox. Suzuki built the F6A in carburetted, injected and turbocharged forms and in both six-valve and twelve-valve single-cam heads, and that breadth is part of why it survived so long.

Background: the Carry Dump

The Carry uses the classic kei arrangement — cab-over body, engine mounted longitudinally under the driver's seat, drive to the rear — which keeps everything short-coupled and within reach. Suzuki offered a differential lock and a limited-slip differential on the Carry from as early as 1986, and four-wheel-drive five-speeds got an extra-low gear. The F6A fitted here is one of Suzuki's own kei engines, a design the company used across a very large number of vehicles.
